What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

YouTube is a video sharing website on which users can upload and share videos. In November 2006 You Tube, LLC was bought by Google Inc. For 1.65 billion dollars and now is operating as a subsidiary of Google.
They use adobe flash video technology to show a variety of video contents such as movie clips, TV clips and music videos, as well as amateur video blogging and short original videos. In July 2006 more than 65; 000 new videos were being uploaded every day. In March 2008, YouTube’s bandwidth costs were estimated at approximately US$1 million a day and mare than six billion videos were viewed in January 2009.
It is also estimated that 20 hours of new videos are uploaded to the site every minute. YouTube would suit me for my film because it is free and its film distribution is easy. You sign up and become a member of you tube then you are able to start uploading your videos.

You Tube would suit my film because it would help my target audience to find my film easily under the You Tube categories and uses the right psychographics of the audience. This also because people will be able to leave comments about my film and what they thought of it which would give me reviews and would lead to a bigger fan base. The fact that You Tube allows us to have our own You Tube site/ video blog means that our film will be accessible to the entire world. You Tube is known in 22 different languages and countries including France, the UK and Germany.



Vimeo is a home to communities looking for a place to share their moments and creativity with friends, family, or other users. These videos are created with care by our users and seen through the world. As a result they have over 20 million monthly visitors, with membership growing rapidly every day. They also offer clients high impact advertising integrations.

Vimeo would also be an ideal place to distribute my film because it is also a video network sharing site. Also due to the fact that they have several of film festivals and film contests for amateur films. This would match with the distribution of my film because i could enter film festivals and contests to rapidly get my film out and get its rep up. The more and more contest and festivals my film will enter the more and more people will know about it and start to share with their friends which is the way we could also reach out to a third audience
